Discover the History Behind US Stamps

United States Postage Stamps: 1925

Two series of commemorative stamps were issued by the United States Post Office in 1925.  These included the Norse-American set of two stamps commemorating 100th anniversary of the first landing of Norwegian immigrants on US shores in 1825.  Although the set commemorates a somewhat minor event in American history, the two stamps are attractive, well designed, and are sought after by collectors.

The first of a number of stamps commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Revolutionary War were also issued this year.  The 3 stamp Lexington-Concord set commemorates the first battles of the war that occurred in Lexington and Concord.
