National Recovery Act Stamp

The National Recovery Act stamp was issued on August 15, 1933 to support the act of the same name.  This program was one of the first programs that President Franklin Roosevelt implemented during his New Deal, the National Recovery Act or NRA was intended to improve living conditions in the United States, increase employment and create a minimum wage for workers by regulating a variety of business activities.  Although successful, the United States Supreme Court declared the program unconstitutional in 1935.  Later the same year, the National Labor Relations act reinstated many of the NRAs programs.
